Ethics Policy

HouseFresh is a completely independent site. We have no direct association or special relationship with any of the manufacturers or companies we cover. Our opinions and analyses are the product of our data-led tests and our many years of experience reporting on the air purification industry and the air quality technology space.

How we choose what to cover

The media have increasingly covered the state of our air since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the rise in wildfires worldwide. At HouseFresh, our focus is on the technologies used to monitor and improve indoor air quality, from sensors to air filters. In addition to product reviews, comparisons and recommendations, we produce comprehensive original studies on global air quality and advise our readers on indoor air issues, common air pollutants and filtration technologies.

Product reviews and recommendations

We don’t accept devices from manufacturers or PR agencies that represent them, so we can remain unbiased while experiencing the customer journey as our readers would. We do not accept money or other considerations from companies in exchange for positive reviews.

Nearly every product we have reviewed to date has been bought with our own money, but we reserve the right to accept products from manufacturers in cases where we can’t source a device where we are based. However, we will clearly state this was the case and show how much we spent to cover the international shipping costs of transporting the device to our home country.

Our journalistic standards

HouseFresh is a member of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (which regulates the UK’s print and digital news industry). We abide by the Editors’ Code of Practice and are committed to upholding the highest standards of journalism. If you think that we have not met those standards and want to make a complaint, please contact Gisele Navarro. If we are unable to resolve your complaint, of if you would like more information about IPSO or the Editors’ Code, you can contact IPSO on (+44) 0300 123 2220 or visit www.ipso.co.uk.

Corrections

Should any of our published articles contain factual inaccuracies, please get in touch with Gisele Navarro. Upon fact-checking the article, we will remove the offending content and issue an update. Above all else, we strive to empower our readers to make informed decisions based on accurate, first-hand data and information.

Advertising

We do not run adverts on our HouseFresh.com or accept offers to review products in exchange for payment. Rather, we only make money through referral programs. When you buy a product after clicking on a “View Price” button on our site, we make a small (generally around 3%) commission on that purchase at no extra cost to you.

We have affiliate partnerships with retailers (like Amazon) and manufacturers (like Alen) but our editorial content is not influenced by these partnerships. If you were to buy a product that didn’t live up to our recommendations and decided to return it, we wouldn’t see any money from that purchase. That is why ensuring we are making the best possible recommendations is the key to our financial success.

We reserve the right to collaborate with manufacturers on air quality education pieces and other features on our YouTube channel. However, we will clearly mark any sponsored content shown on the HouseFresh channel as an advertisement, even if it’s not an endorsement of a particular product.
