The marketing materials for the AEOCKY Boreas 001 state that it can remove up to 50 pints per day, but this is based on a sauna-like environment at 95°F (35 °C) temperatures with 95% humidity.

In our tests, this mid-sized dehumidifier extracted humidity from the air as quickly as 20 to 35-pint dehumidifiers we have tested. And in our sound tests, noise ranged from 48.1 to 52.7 decibels at 3 feet, which is much quieter than other models. However, in our electricity consumption tests, this AEOCKY model was more power-hungry than other 50-pint models…

When it comes to the brand itself, it’s worth mentioning that AEOCKY is fairly new to the market, but the good news is that they offer a longer-than-average warranty to most cheap dehumidifiers: three years instead of just one.

But… Is it worth the money? Read on to find out.

The pros and cons of the AEOCKY Boreas 001

A summary of our top-level findings after testing this dehumidifier, following our methodology.

AEOCKY BOREAS 001 Close scaled

“Despite being marketed as a 50-pint dehumidifier, the extraction rate of the AEOCKY Boreas 001 in our test was comparable to 30-35 pint dehumidifiers we tested.

All in all, the Boreas 001 is a well priced and capable unit, with quieter operation than other similarly sized dehumidifiers. And the 3-year warranty is rare at this price point.”

Water bucket

A bucket that is smaller than the one you’ll get with other 50-pint models

The bucket slides out from the front – much more convenient than with models with the bucket at the back, like the Xiaomi Smart Dehumidifier Lite.

With a capacity of 5.7 pints, this is the third-smallest water bucket across all dehumidifiers I’ve tested. You get a gravity-hose option, too.

Design, features and controls

Small size and castor wheels make it easy to move around.

Whilst it’s not too heavy, I appreciated the handle that can be easily hidden when not in use.

It comes on castor wheels, which make it easy to move around on the floor.

You get a washable nylon pre-filter at the back that catches large particles.

You should clean it regularly to ensure the airflow is not blocked.

It has buttons to set the desired humidity level, adjust fan speeds, and switch modes.

On the right-hand side, you also get a black screen that shows the current humidity level in the room.

Dehumidification performance

We tested the AEOCKY Boreas 001 in our grow test using a humidifier and our trusted hygrometer.

AEOCKY BOREAS 001 Performance Test scaled

We used our Levoit Classic 300S humidifier to raise the humidity inside our Shorty Gorilla Grow Tent to 91.11% and let the numbers stabilize for five minutes before setting the dehumidifier to top speed for 30 minutes. We used our SensorPush wireless hygrometer to gather humidity data during this test, and also tested the natural decay inside the tent without a dehumidifier running.

When running at full speed, this AEOCKY Boreas 001 dehumidifier reduced humidity from 91.11% to 61.8% – a 29.31% drop in 30 minutes.

As you can see from the chart, this model offers performance similar to that of the ProBreeze 50-Pint.

In our tests, this Boreas 001 extracted 0.412 liters of water in three hours. This result is more in line with 20 to 35-pint dehumidifiers than with 50-pint models.

Sound levels

The sound levels of the AOECKY Boreas 001 reached 52.7 dBA, making it the 4th quietest dehumidifier we have tested.

AEOCKY BOREAS 001 Sound Electricity Test scaled

I used our BAFX sound meter to measure the sound level of the AOECKY Boreas 001 running at high and low speeds. At a distance of 3 ft., I recorded 52.7 dBA at top speed and 48.1 dBA at low speed.

As you can see from the chart below, the Boreas 001 is a lot quieter than most other models:

Long-term running costs

Running your AEOCKY Boreas 001 will cost you $141.62 per year, assuming you run it 8 hours per day.

We used our energy meter to record how much electricity this dehumidifier pulls when running at top speed.

Although power consumption was relatively low at 266.3 watts, this AEOCKY dehumidifier extracted less water than many larger units. As a result, its water-removal-per-watt efficiency wasn’t as good as that of some higher-capacity competitors.

AEOCKY BOREAS 001 Energy Consumption

The only other dehumidifier that comes close to the Boreas 001 is the Pro Breeze 50-Pint model, but keep in mind that this model comes with a much higher list price of $239.99.

Bottom line: Should you get an AEOCKY Boreas 001 dehumidifier?

While I wouldn’t call it a 50-pint dehumidifier, this small AEOCKY model benefits from quiet operation, low price and a 3-year warranty.

AEOCKY BOREAS 001 Front 1 scaled

AEOCKY is a fairly new brand in the world of dehumidifiers, so I didn’t know what to expect, especially considering its low price of just around $100.

However, as the data show, the Boreas 001 performed well at this low price, with an extraction rate comparable to that of the Ivation 13-Pint and the Pro Breeze 50-Pint dehumidifiers.

The 3-year warranty also helps this cheap dehumidifier stand out from other brands, considering most sub-$250 models only offer a 1-year warranty.

The Boreas is also an easy-to-live-with dehumidifier, thanks to its quiet operation and features like auto-mode, a child lock, the ability to turn off all lights and a deep handle that can retract when not in use.

Now, if you need serious moisture removal in a large space like a basement, there are stronger performers than this small AEOCKY, like the Frigidaire 50-Pint or the Midea Cube.

But if you’re looking for a quiet, affordable dehumidifier for a bedroom, office or a moderately damp room, then the AOECKY Boreas 001 will offer excellent value for your money.
